Getting to Canberra

The epic adventure has started.

The support crew for the Tour de Legacy left Adelaide yesterday, Saturday,  at 5:30 am to make their way to Canberra by Sunday. Driving in a convoy of 4 vehicles, the lead vehicle, with Kym Harden,   Brett Knuckey, who will be repairing sore bodies after the daily rides, the roving support vehicle being driven by Simon Mills, the catering trailer, with Ian and Jude Powell, known affectionately as Mum and Dad, and the truck carrying all the bikes and infrastructure, with Stephen and Anabelle Lord.

The drive took them through some very interesting places, battling some serious fog, that went on for about 75 km, then dodging the ever present "road kill", to finally arrive in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, after travelling for 950 km, where they spent the night.

Meeting a couple of Legacy members for dinner, they shared great stories, with lots of laughter, which in turn enabled them to have some relaxation time after such a long drive.

Today, they left Wagga and drove to Canberra, where they waited for the riders to arrive from Adelaide. In the meantime, they unloaded and set up everything in preparation for the delivery of the bikes to their owners.

When that was accomplished, a group of very keen riders decided to go for a ride, just to get acquainted with the area and to make sure the bikes were working as they should.

After that, they all went to Canberra Legacy House, to have a fantastic dinner hosted by its President. The riders, support crew and Legacy members from both Adelaide and Canberra are excited and looking forward to the start of the ride tomorrow, Monday, when they'll congregate at the War Memorial, and from there, the Governor General, Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Cosgrove will give the send off and thus, the Tour de Legacy will officially begin.

Here are some photos from today's events.

The route tomorrow is Canberra to Yass, approximately 65 km.
There will be blog updates along the way, and certainly every night at the end of the ride.

Until then,

Cheers
